Required Salesforce Admin Setup
There are two things you need to do to prepare your Salesforce instance to work with Birdie.
- Set up fields to store the LinkedIn URL on the Contact and Lead objects.
- Ensure that Notes are enabled.
Setting up LinkedIn URL fields
This guide will show you how to set up the LinkedIn URL field for the Lead object. The process is similar for the Contact object.
Within SFDC, click on the settings icon (1) and then Setup
(2).
In the search bar, search for lead
(1) and then click on Lead (Object Manager)
(2).
If you are setting up this field for the Contact object, change "lead" to "contact".
Click on Fields & Relationships
(1) and then on New
(2).
Select URL
for the field type (1) and click Next
(2).
Use LinkedIn URL
for the Field Label
(1) and use the default Field Name
. Click Next
(2).
Ensure that all the checkboxes are set to Visible
(1) and then click Next
(2).
Ensure that the field is visible on the relevant forms-enabled record pages (1) and then click Next
(2).
Ensure that the field is visible on the relevant page layouts (1) and click Save
(2).
Repeat this process for the Contact object. The main difference is that within the Object Manager, you will be accessing the Contact object instead of the Lead object.
Enable Notes
This is necessary to save Company Research answers in Salesforce.
In setup, search for and select Notes Settings
.
Ensure that Enable Notes
is checked. If it isn't checked, check it and click Save
.
