AI Message Writer

Birdie can use data from LinkedIn to help you write messages. To access this feature, click on the AI Message Writer icon in Birdie's Message Composer.

Step 1: Give Birdie context to write your message

Birdie will research the person you're messaging and show you a list of research notes that you can use as context to personalize your message. You can choose up to 5 context items (1). Once you've selected all relevant pieces of information, click the button at the lower right to create your prompt (2).

Step 2: Create your message prompt

Next, you'll need to tell Birdie how to write your message. You can either use freeform instructions (i.e. an open-ended prompt to ChatGPT), or base your message off a message template. Use the dropdown (1) to choose which method you prefer.

Using freeform instructions

Use freeform instructions when you want to give detailed instructions to Birdie on how to write the message. For example, if you have previous prompts that you've used with ChatGPT, you can copy and paste them here to send to Birdie.

Using a template

Use a template when you have a well defined structure for the message you want to send, and you just want Birdie to augment it with your selected context settings. Surround the portions of the message you want Birdie to fill in with AI with {{ ... }}.

Hi {{firstname}}, I read your recent post about {{recent social media post}} and found it to be insightful.

In the template above, {{firstname}} will be populated with the recipient's first name, and {{recent social media post}} will be populated with the description of a social media post that you've selected in the context items.

Generate your messages

Once you've finished writing your prompt, click the Generate messages button on the bottom right.

Step 3: Select and paste in your message

Birdie will generate 2 messages which you can choose from. Selecting one of the messages (1) will copy the message to your clipboard. You can then paste it into the conversation's text area and send it. Once you select a message, the AI Writer window will close automatically in a few seconds.

You can also click Regenerate at the bottom right (2) to generate 2 new messages.
